1- Introduction
Writing an App Title, Short Description, and Keyword Field is more accessible than writing a Long Description. However, always appreciate this work because these 3 are the MOST IMPORTANT factors that make your app rank higher. I will give you some writing formulas with practical examples to apply quickly in this article.
2- App Title
Formula:
[Brand Name] – [Main Keyword 1] [Main Keyword 2] [Main Keyword 3]
Example:
Markets.com – Trade Forex Gold (30 characters)
Explanation:
Brand Name = Markets.com
Main Keyword 1 = Trading
Main Keyword 2 = Forex
Main Keyword 3 = Gold
Note:
The example above is in a perfect condition that allows you to include three keywords in the App Title. However, in your case, you may consist of two keywords only. It is ok, don’t push yourself to put more keywords if there is no more space.
3- Short Description / Subtitle
Formula:
[Keyword 1] [Contextual Word] [Keyword 2] [Contextual Word] [Keyword 3] [Dot] [Keyword 4] [Contextual Word] [Keyword 5]…..
Must-know tips:
- Write the content that suits both Algorithm & Human by adding short “linking words” inside. It sounds more natural than using commas.
- Try to choose the keywords that make it feel like a contextual sentence. Eg. “Trade Gold & Analyze Markets in Investing Platform” sounds more natural than “Trade Gold, Analyze Markets, Investing Platform.”
- We should pick important & high-volume keywords for the Short Description. And try to choose keywords from different categories.
- Again, be flexible. My formula is just for your technical understanding. Feel free to apply it in your way creatively
Example: (for Google Play)
Invest Gold Online At Stock Broker. Start Forex Investing & Previous Metal Trade (80 Characters)
Explanation:
Keyword 1 = Invest Gold Online
Contextual Word = At
Keyword 2 = Stock Broker
Contextual Word = Start
Keyword 3 = Forex Investing
Contextual Word = &
Keyword 4 = Previous Metal
Keyword 5 = Trade
4- Keyword Field
As mentioned in the lesson about “App Page Requirements”, we all know that the Keyword Field is only available in the Appstore (iOS) with 100 characters.
This metadata field replaces the Long Description and is powerful to rank you up. Apptweak suggested that:
- Choose single keywords instead of combined keywords
- Choose high-volume keywords
- Don’t need to repeat keywords that already included in App Name & Sub-title
- Separate keywords by commas without spacing
- Don’t include the words ‘app’, ‘free’, ‘iphone’ or ‘ipad’
An actual example:
trading,emas,investasi,uang,modal,stock,broker,saham,analysis,signal,invest,trader,forex,gold,index (100 characters)
Some information about the iOS Appstore algorithm:
The iOS algorithm works differently from the Google algorithm
- Google: You have to repeat the keywords a few times to make the algorithm understand the topic
- iOS: You only need to write every keyword once, the algorithm is intelligent and it will auto-match different single keywords together for different meanings
